Global X is the latest issuer to file for a bitcoin ETF with the SEC

Canan turan/iStock via Getty Images Global X, the powerhouse ETF issuer, has thrown its name into the bitcoin (BTC-USD) ETF mix by filing a preliminary prospectus with the U.S. Securities Exchange Commission to launch the Global X Bitcoin Trust. The Global X Bitcoin Trust, which will trade on the Cboe BZX Exchange, clearly states that "in seeking to achieve its investment objective, the trust will hold bitcoin." Moreover, per the prospectus, "the trust's investment objective is to reflect the performance of the price of bitcoin less the expenses of the trust's operations. The trust will not seek to reflect the performance of any benchmark or index." Additionally, no ticker symbol or expense ratios have been set at this time. Global X, which has $35B in assets under management and over 80 exchange traded funds, looks to join the waiting list with other issuers such as VanEck, ARK Invest, Invesco, and the ten
